LK Fiber

A startup with a plan

Few years ago, in 2018, LK Fiber was a startup with an objective to make digital agreements for Fiber Internet installations. LK wanted a simple solution that consultants could use via tablets, and it should be easy to use with minimal introduction needed. The output should be high quality agreements which should serve as documentation for implementing fiber internet in households and companies. LK already had agreed with a major provider, Fibia, to handle their agreements. Via a recommendation in their network, LK contacted Dandesign to discuss how to build an online technical platform.

Becoming a major player within few years

In 2018 LK made 19.000 agreements, in 2019 29.000 and in 2020 46.000 agreements. During this period both the business and the platform evolved from a simple setup into a comprehensive business concept. LK now also worked with many of the other big providers such as TDC, EWII, Energi Fyn and Global Connect…

A platform on steroids

What started as a simple solution where you could sign simple agreements on a tablet, soon was expanded with new ideas and needs. Import features were needed to get data from providers into the system, a project structure (reflected by the structure for each provider) was needed to keep track of the increasing volume of agreements etc. New concepts and ideas, e.g. for handling agreements via phone, were discussed, shaped and implemented. Every month LK was wondered if the project would be “done soon”, but every month new opportunities were too exiting to ignore.

Going international

In Denmark the majority of households now already have fiber internet, so it was decided to look south and in 2021 the first fiber projects started in Germany, as LK initiated a teamwork with the engineering company Krafteam. The teamwork with Krafteam also meant new focus on fiber implementation, which had so far not been a part of the platform. Going from making agreements to handling the fiber implementation process is a big step, but the vision of creating a simple and easy to use system, with focus on the end user, is the same.

Working agile

Due to limited time and money, the project started out without big analysis and complex workflows: Write down the idea, get quick feedback from the developer and, if ok, build it! Now that the solution has become many times bigger and more complex, we need a few steps more than that, but this quick agile approach is still used for most features. It works well with a small team, that knows the solution well.
